SolAire Remains: Green Builder of the Year
In this January’s round of Central Oregon Builder
Association (COBA) Awards, SolAire Homebuilders was once again
named the 2008 “Green Builder of the Year.”
Exhibiting excellence in all categories of the award criteria,
green builder Mike O’Neil received several accolades for
perseverance in the field of responsible, sustainable, custom
home building and remodeling, while also giving back to the
industry and the community for which he is a part.
This year in particular, SolAire was honored to present the
first LEED Platinum certified home in Central Oregon. The
home was open to the public on several occasions and has become
a showcase for excellence in green building, a trademark that
SolAire has endorsed since the company’s incorporation in
1995. Mike also has given many years to COBA leadership
providing guidance for the local, state and national level
green building committees. He and his wife Cindi O’Neil
have been working with COBA to create the first Building Green
Resource Center for the public, and look forward to unveiling
this resource to the community in 2010.
Mike O’Neil is an ardent supporter of his community and
the environment. In 2008 SolAire sponsored several community
events including the SolAire Salmon Run, the Mountain Film
Festival and the Race to the Roof with Habitat for
Humanity. “It’s important to honor the
surrounding environment in which we live and it’s equally
important to support local non-profits like Habitat for
Humanity who improve a person’s ability to buy and own
their own home,” states Mike O’Neil.
And 2009 will be no exception for SolAire as the company
continues to bring new green technologies forward into the home
buying market. “ Our partnerships with current
clients for new custom homes and remodeling projects will
showcase several new combinations of technologies that we look
forward to showcasing during the COBA tour of Homes™ and
the Green and Solar Tour and the fall Remodeling Tour of
Homes. We invite the public to look for us during these
events or stop by our Custom Homes Sales Center in NW Crossing
to learn more,” explains O’Neil.
